Ask iLean

This is iLean, my mp3 player. Recently I turned to her for advice on a sensitive matter. She's an iPod Classic which has no Siri or equivalent so she remained silent and impassive. I felt a bit silly. 

Many years ago I read The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart. It is the story of a man who lets the outcome of a dice roll decide which way he will react to important decisions. As you can imagine, this leads him down some unexpected paths. I recommend the book but not necessarily the lifestyle. I had a much better idea: I would let iLean's first selection in 'shuffle' mode decide my next move.

As I was writing this, iLean selected a song which made it clear that she would never advocate anything illegal or that would cause anyone harm. Its by some obscure buskers that I saw once in a place you don't know. How fortunate that iLean picked it just when I was wondering how to make that very point!
